are a theoretical concept, and according to the theory they are invisible. All the effects you mention about EM waves can be predicted from EM wave theory plus other theories like detection theories and chemistry, but they are not a direct measurement of the EM waves. The closest we can come to that is the detection of "collapsed" EM waves called photons which in my view have very brief existence. But I agree that my 90% number is a bit on the low side. Make it 95%.
