: : : part of serving GOD is the not really knowing, it's : : : called FAITH.

: : what is FAITH? What is the basis of belief? : : What happens when faiths collide? Is one more : : valid than another? Not all religious faiths even : : believe in monothesism. They don't believe or worship : : the "same God", as some imply. Are the leaders of : : some faiths smarter, more enlightened, insightful, : : prefered by God? The answer is obvious. God was : : created in man's image. The concept fills an : : emotional need and an important role in society, : : until abused by zealots.

: : Belief, in general terms, is based on one of three things. : : a) evidence : : b) authority : : c) an emotional need : : So it is that all the major faiths have their : : miracles (evidence), sacred text (authority), and : : rituals (emotional fulfillment).

: : Science deals with evidence, though the process, : : including the social process, is convoluted. : : Science does not address all human concerns, but : : it does impact many areas that religion would, and : : in the past, has incorrectly claimed as its domain. : : The proof of God is irrelevant in the sense that, if : : you believe it's true. It's true for you and that's : : all that counts, except when you impose your beliefs : : on me. Then WE have a problem.

: : The Iconoclast

: your an atheist, right? I'm not imposing my religious views : on you at all. I'm saying that you have to have : faith, he's not going to come down and make an announcenent : that he exists. He gave us free will to choose for ourselves : wether to believe or not. If you do then you have to have faith : that GOD exists, if you don't then that is your choice. : I also find it interesting that people that are from pagan : related faiths or atheist beliefs, always seem to have a need to : tear down other more established forms of religion such as : christianity, islam , etc... Why is that? Is it : because your insecure in your own beliefs? : Faith my friend is where it's at. You've never seen a blackhole : but you probably believe they exist.

I believe my God is big enough to stand the scruitiny of science. The Creation is all about us and gives evidence of his power and handiwork. I think God wants us to examine the evidence because it points to him. I would encourage you to check out Hugh Ross' homepage at http://www.reasons.org/. This guy's got a Ph.D. in Astrophysics that has been able to reconcile his faith with observable evidence.
