: : Has anyone read "The Emperor's New Mind" or Shadows of the Mind" by Roger Penrose (Hawking's Pal). If so could I get your thought's on them? : My first thuoght is that Penrose was Hawking's Thesis Professor. I'm not sure if they are pals. : My second thought is that Penrose seems to have left out self-consciousness in his book. : The basic premise of a quantum consciousness is probably correct in my opinion. But to get self-consciousness a kind of split consciousness is needed. Perhaps to two halves of the brain would do. But I suspect that a secondary, background medium capable of sustaining quantum coherence as a reflection of quantum coherence in the brain is what actually exists. : By the way, consciousness is the middle ground between god & science. ::::: I'm not sure what you mean by "But to get self-consciousness a kind of split consciousness is needed." Is this from Sagan's "Dragons of Eden" or possibly "Bocca's Brain"? You lost me here. Help. |
