God Is A Committee?

Isn't your suggestion that "God is a committee who needs us about as much as we need them." no different than other religious statements like "Angels have wings" or "Lightning is caused by Zeus" or "the Earth exists because God made it" or "People don't all speak the same because God confounded the languages during of the Tower of Babel"?

These are ideas that people make up because it seems to make sense to them, but they don't do scientific experimentation to confirm their hypotheses or theories are correct. Sometimes religions encourage or force others to accept these fabrications and set up officials (priests) to maintain the religious orthodoxy.
