Maybe World Government Would Be Ok.

Your point is good. I would think that the purpose of the world government would be foremost to eliminate large-scale war. Insurrections would remain small. Peace would abound by force. Uniformity in business law would be another concern. Freedom, however, might be another problem. If the government could govern with the minimum of interference, that would be nice, but unlikely.

I certainly don't relish the thought of the affluent West being forced to financially support the rest of the world.

I don't know. I guess this is a topic for another place.

My point about world government came about because someone suggested that the Bible predicted the (bad) development of world governments in our day. I was arguing against Biblical prophesy and also emphasizing the point that one's religious belief can influence someone to make unscientific decisions about society. For example, if world government was good for us, but our religion ignorantly warns against it then we'll tend to impede it.
