Abortion

Actually I am not against abortion as long as there is not life and we define life an the same basis as we define death. Anti-abortionists define life as beginning at conception. I once heard a talk at an AAAS conference in Boston by a renowned researcher in this area who said that it is possible to define the beginning of life as before conception. So much for birth control.

But it really is a political question. If we lived in a country where reincarnation was accepted, the practice of abortion would probably be allowed until the new soul had entered the body.

So here is a situation where science and religion and politics all confront each other. Science does make a strong input to ethics, at least the practical application of ethical principles on the number of issues.
