But from what I read and from talking to people who have had the experience, they are reproducible. From talking with some of the people who suppressed further funding, they seem to think that research of this sort undermines science. I have never understood why they think that way. It has something to do with the potential popularity of such research, according to them. But I do not see how that undermines scientific research. Perhaps from their perspective, good scientific research, or the means to carry it out, is in a much more fragile state than I am aware of.
