In reading the last few dozen posts , I would like to offer a personal opinion. Man is made up of Spirit, soul ( mind, will & emotions) and body. Spiritual things can only be discerned by the spirit. God’s existence cannot definitively be proved by Logic,it being finite. For thousands of years man has tried to capture the infinite with the finite. Some of our greatest thinkers have come to the conclusion that it is a matter of faith.

Albert Einstein{ 1879 - 1955 }
A Selection of Quotes

* "Watch the stars, and from them learn.
To the Master's honor all must turn, each in its track, without a sound, forever tracing Newton's ground."

* Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind."

* To be sure, the doctrine of a personal God interfering with the natural events could never be refuted, in the real sense, by science, for this doctrine can always take refuge in those domains in which scientific knowledge has not yet been able to set foot.

*"The highest principles for our aspirations and judgments are given to us in the Jewish-Christian religious tradition. It is a very high goal which, with our weak powers, we can reach only very inadequately, but which gives a sure foundation to our aspirations and valuations. If one were to take that goal out of out of its religious form and look merely at its purely human side, one might state it perhaps thus: free and responsible development of the individual, so that he may place his powers freely and gladly in the service of all mankind.
... it is only to the individual that a soul is given.
And the high destiny of the individual is to serve rather than to rule, or to impose himself in any other way."

Blaise Pascal ( 1623-1662) French Mathematician
"In everyone there is a God shaped vacuum waiting to be filled."

It is the heart, which perceives God and not the reason.
Pensees (1670)

Men despise religion; they hate it, and they fear it is true.
Pensees (1670)

Let us weigh the gain and the loss in wagering that God is. Let us consider the two possibilities. If you gain, you gain all; if you lose, you lose nothing. Hesitate not, then, to wager that He is.
Pensees (1670)

If God does not exist, one will lose nothing by believing in him, while if he does exist, one will lose everything by not believing.
With 'Pascal's wager' he uses probabilistic and mathematical arguments but his main conclusion is that
...we are compelled to gamble...
