If I may rephrase what I said:

Essentially, what he proved was that it is always possible to create a self referential statement of the form, "This statement is false!", in any completely closed logical construct where everything is internally defined (i.e., in any concievable "language", even in mathematics).

Clearly, if it is possible to construct that statement, then it is possible to construct a statement which can not be proved either true or false! If it is true, it is false and if it is false it is true!
