As I recall from high school biology class, all animals process information subconsciousely, and because humans are no different they process most of information exactly the same way. And there are several levels of processing - basic but fast processing of vital priopity (for survival)information is called instinktive routing, less basic but slower - intuition routing, etc. Some information in human brain is routed to certain groups of cortex cells, activity of which we call consciouseness.
