And thus disagree about nobel prizes (and other positive outcomes).

Do you know, that 1978 nobel prize was given for unexpected spin-off from development of sensitive microwave detectors to communicate with satellites? Yes, for 1965 discovery of cosmic background radiation as a source of persistent annoying noise coming from everywhere.


Cathod rays (electrons) were discovered by chance (1905 nobel) as well as atomic nucleus (1922 prize), Cherenkov effect (1958), and so on.

So I would not put much on the horse with a big commercial sign "Nothing serious will come out of strings" on her side.
