: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Would it be fair to believe in 'God and Science', or the choice should only be one?

I believe, as others, that we must sit back from this very difficult question, step out of our emotional beings for a second and think with greater wisdom about this question. Neither side in this can simply say they "know" their belief to be true, whether based on years in the science fields or years in a monestary. If we look back, however, through the beginning of our species, there IS evidence of evolution. We see this through many artifacts, preserved for thousands of years. These prehistoric people did not know the working of the world, why it was created, why there was fire, rain, wind, lightning, etc. They did not have the knowledge that we have today, just as we do not have the knowledge that human kind will acquire come more generations. These people may just have wanted a reason for these "mysterious" doings that went on. This is a very practical reason to "God", "Zeus", and all the other deities of the past. When we look, unemotionally, at these gods, we see that the only evidence of their existence is that we ourselves have bee told of them by our parents, preachers, etc. We simply do not have any proof that "God" exists, other than there is a great following of him in the world. People, even today, take comfort in the thought of an afterlife, for it is comforting to "know" that we will never die, that when our corporeal form has finally expired, that we will not just disappear into the deep abyss of the universe, with no concious thought ever again. Yes, we can prove that Jesus was a real person, but of his miracles there is no evidence. NOt one bit of evidence that God, Jesus, Budda, etc. have ever existed. Thats right, there is no more proof that "God" exists than there is proof that I created the universe with a toenail clipper. Science has made great steps, from Darwin proving evolution, to the big bang theory. What is there to discuss? If everybody in the world stopped worshipping God and going to services, would anything happen? Lets seriously think about this, would it REALLY matter? Science has evidence, and until I see one pebble of evidence to argue for creationism, I will back the theory of evolution all the way.
