However doubting a theory in no way implies a leap of faith, as Mr. Nelson seems to suggest. It is true that we will never arrive at the truth (Hey, a paradox) but as the theories get more and more REFINED we get closer and closer. String theory has not been totally proven, therefore it is not accepted as fact, therefore it requires no faith, only inquisitive minds. If it turns out that string theory is in fact false, those scientists did not "waste their lives," on the contrary, they found yet another thing that truth ISN'T. And how can that be considered a waste?
