Richard,

Your health examples seem to suggest that the human body with the biofeedback possible from the brain is too complex a system to expect modern conventional medicine to be right every time. Your examples, however, do not imply that there is a supernatural reality.

The question is, how reliable is conventional medicine compared with alternatives? Undoubtedly it depends on what the problem is.

Are you confident enough in your Zen guru, and your alternative medicines that the next time the paramedics are called to take you to the hospital you'll tell them not to bother?

As alternative medical techniques are shown to work they will be adopted by traditional health care providers (i.e., M.D.s). Pharmacueticals might try to slow that down, if it hurts their business, but it will happen nevertheless. Health is too important to everyone on this planet to ignore treatments that work reliably.
