i think dress at a funeral depends on the person and circumstance. i mean, we were pretty somber at dad's and stepmom's and stepbro's cuz it really was a traumatic experience for them to go by murder/suicide in such a quiet little town. plus, my one sister and brother aren't really 'religiously inclined'. dad was quite a card, and it was 100 degrees in the sun in PR, so for some reason it seemed appropriate that there was an ice cream vendor there, as if on cue. whatta visual, huh? then another friend, fellow reenactor, we dressed in our historical clothing as comfort to his family who joined us at events. but black is easier on the eyes of the mourners who don't know what joy they CAN feel. i hope folks dance and party at mine, just as most of my family wants for theirs, too. maybe cuz we're such 'rugged individualists' we're not so bound by traditions, preferring to make our own. like, now, since at dad's we'd ordered in chinese food with lots of rice, any time someone's sick we send rice. that's just us. oh well! haha gotta fight the mundane or become it, i suppose, in which case i might as well be dead.
