"Blue Noise" - What Is It?

Anyone know? My father had a cassette tape with that recorded on it; to hazard a 'description' of the sounds, let's see: in background high pitched fluctuating rather steadily (almost like a modem, but not that much fluctuation), and in 'foreground' imagine a stereotypical 'baritone chant', 'yOWmmmmmYOWmmmmm...'. I'm not kidding at all. Dad was an astronomer, and this tape was amongst his favorite classical music, so it had to have been more than a passing interest to him. Just wish he'd written about it at some time or another, or the source of it on the tape. I don't even know if 'Blue Noise' is a true techy term or something he 'made up' while he was investigating what it was, too. hmph. Thanks! :) |
