I think you or somebody said that they get to heaven faster without so much technology.

Here is where perspective makes a difference.

From my perspective, a long life with the usual early mistakes, and a long time to think about them and make up for them, is the best insurance for not having to come back again to make up for them. So technology delays your trip to heaven, but is likely to increase the chances of your staying there, if that is your objective.

Many of us chose to come back because this is where the action is.
