For once we are in agreement. The Void of Buddhism has many of the characteristics as the unified field of physics. The principal characteristic of both is the lack of characteristics. That is, both are states of complete symmetry so that there is no way to distinguish one part of the void or field from another. Everything looks the same in every direction and at every point in space.

Actually it is exactly what we experience in deep sleep. We see nothing and feel nothing because everything is uniformly symmetric. In essence the experience of being in the void is like being unconsciousness.

That's why I chose to be a human being; for here on earth is where visual, audio and emotional experiences are most intense. Now that I'm getting old, the intensity of life is diminuishing. I'm getting ready for death by getting used to not having any intense experiences at all. But I miss them. No more thrill of downhill sking. No more agony of marathon runs. No more passion of young love. So most likely I'll be back on earth again soon.

On the other hand, if you have ever read Swedenborg, heaven could be a pretty exciting place as well.
