Well the simple answer is that it would only be a guess. Take a x-section of the river. Get a deep sample from about 15 feet from the river edge which is about 6 feet above the river. My best guess is that right at the bed surface would be damp silty sands with a significant amount of gravel, maybe 10 percent by weight. Down a short depth, I'm sure you will encounter significant water seepage at about 6 feet of depth and perhaps a layer of silt a little under than. Underneath that silt if there is any would be more silty sand that is moist to a depth of 15 feet. That should be the end of moist soil and then there will be damp sand or clay underneath to bedrock. Just a wild guess. |
