well put. it needn't be 'one thing or another', it can be one thing AND another (that was probably from an old commercial, so whoops!). to the believer, scientific discoveries just give more food for thought on their faith - if they can allow themselves to imagine that God may indeed take great delight in being discovered!! i think closed minded people of any belief or lack thereof just musta had hard early lives where everything they tried to think was discouraged or they were told to just 'move your paws, not your jaws'.

sad commentary on psychology/society, probably too big for this forum! :)
