We don't conclude about science that things simply 'are.' We now know why the fundamental particles have the masses they have, and we are now figuring out how they got these seeminly arbitrarily random chosen numbers through superstring theory.

As to your keyboard analogy, we can see that the keyboard was manufactured from a purely scientific standpoint (the odd element ratios etc.) but I have never heard of or seen any evidence that our universe has a 'maker.'
