My personal theory: since the basis of all religion is belief, in contrast to science, which relies on evidence, people need to convince others of their beliefs in order to validate their own feelings.

This forum provides a great opportunity for people to do this. This urge to convince is so great that some people don't think this forum is enough and have been using blackholes2 to spread their gospels.
