By your definition, you`re absolutly positivly correct (naturally, right :).

But, even if a plant spent all of its energy surviving a bad year, it would be made weak by that exertion and most likely not survive through the next year. (at least, not around here.)

When I think of imortality, I think of something that is too strong to die.
