In my veiw, we will never understand the universe or our place in it from a purely materialistic mind-set. Athiesm/rationalism is an intellectually bankrupt proposition. If one pursues the if-you-can`t-see-it-or-poke-a-stick-at-it-it-doesn`t-exist paradigm back through time to the beginning, what you are left with is NOTHING+CHANCE=EVERYTHING. Therefore, rationalist philosophy is founded upon an irrational concept. John 1:1 says that "In the beginning was the Word.." Thus, through the Word, all things were created. The desingn and orderly workings of this universe are a manifestation of the perfect will of God. In stark contrast, rationalism is limited by the human intellect and represents rebellion against God Himself, in that, it elevates the human-mind to the pinnacle of creation. The only intellectually viable explanation for the existence of the universe is a transcendant Creator. One who does not owe His own existence to Creation or a creative event. If God were a product of the universe, He would have, in effect, created Himself. Therefore, simple logic dictates that He exist outside the space/time domain. He is the Alpha and Omega. That is, He existed prior to the Beginning and He will exist at the End. You may note that this concept of the God of the Bible was in place long before the advent Einstein`s relativistic physics. Is this owed to coincidence? |
