Generally, I would agree, but here you are wrong. There are penalties and rewards to your actions after you are gone. You make an impact on the people around you by your actions while you are living. Your reward for a good life would be you helping others and making others` lives happier - thus making your life happier. We are in this for the species, our race, humanity. Why not help humanity to achieve its true potential. Not helping others, making people miserable, does not make any progress in the world. If you are not helping, you are harming. It is as simple as that. I don`t believe in God, and I don`t believe that humans are anything special in the universe, but I do believe that human beings can reach great heights, if every one of us helps out. Do your part, and be a good person, not for the rewards you won`t recieve after death, but for the rewards others will recieve by your helping them.
