Life and how it started.

Evolution or Creation.

This is the topic of this page. The following is a side by side look at the theory of evolution and evidence given in Genesis that tells it from the creators point of view.

There is also evidence supporting the Bible to be truly given us from a much higher level of intelligence and not what some believe to be a story from men.

In considering questions related to the origin of life, popular opinion or emotion sway many. For us to avoid this and reach accurate conclusions, we need to consider the evidence with an open mind.
Some may say what importance is there in knowing the answers to these questions of how they got here, " I`m here and I`ll probably live for 60 to 70 years, who knows? But whether we were created or we evolved, it don`t change anything for me now."

On the contrary, it could change a great deal, .....how long you live, the way you live, the conditions under which you live. But how? Because our entire attitude toward life and the future is influenced based upon our understanding the origin of life. And how life came to be here will definitely affect the future course of history and our place in it.

The current evolutionary position on life`s starting point is summarized in the book , "The Selfish Gene", by Richard Dawkins. He speculates that in the beginning, earth had an atmosphere composed of carbon dioxide, methane gas, ammonia and water. Through energy supplied by sunlight, and perhaps by lightning and exploding volcanoes, these simple compounds were broken apart and then they reformed into amino acids. A variety of these gradually accumulated in the sea and combined into protein like compounds. Ultimately, he says, the ocean became an "organic soup", but still lifeless.

Then, according to Dawkins` description, "a particularly remarkable molecule was formed by accident" -a molecule that had the ability to reproduce itself. Though admitting that such an accident was exceedingly improbable, he maintains that it must have nevertheless have happened. Similar molecules clustered together, and then, again by another exceedingly improbable accident, they wrapped a protective barrier of other protein molecules around themselves as a membrane. Thus, it is claimed, the first living cell generated itself.

There is however, a stubborn problem that stands in opposition to the evolutionary theory. There are over 100 amino acids, but only 20 are needed for life`s proteins. Much more than this, of the more than 100 amino acids they come in two shapes: Some of these 100, are right handed and some are left handed. Yet, of the 20 amino acids required for producing proteins essential for life, all of these are left handed.

How is it then that, at random, only the specifically required kinds would be united in the soup? What chance is there that the correct amino acids would come together to form a protein molecule?
It would be likened to having a big, thoroughly mixed pile containing equal numbers of red and white beans where there are also over 100 different varieties of these. Now if you plunged your hand into this pile, what do you think you could pull out, what would end up in your hand? In order to get the beans that represent the basic components of a protein, you would have to scoop up only the red ones- no white ones at. Also, left in your hand it must contain only 20 varieties of the red bean, and at the same time each must fall into their specific, preassigned places in your hand.

In the world of proteins, a single mistake in any one of these requirements would cause the protein that is produced to fail to function properly.

The evolution theory just has no foundation and is becoming more increasingly difficult to prove.

On the other hand there is another form of documentation that contains the necessary evidence for us to get answers needed for our understanding.

2 Timothy 3:16 16. Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction.

This is important to remember, that the Bible, God`s word has been created for us to turn to for instruction and learning. A place we can go and get real answers that come from our creator. Who more would we expect to have the answers? Should we let ourselves believe in ideals that have been brought about through man`s beliefs, or those that have been set up by our creator?

Placed in his word is the knowledge, understanding and comfort needed from the testimony he has given that he has caused to remain all this time in his word, the Bible.

The Bible has survived thousands of years, It is the oldest most widely distributed book, It is the only book that has been copied so many times, yet the author remains the same, it is the only book distributed into almost all languages. It is the only book that holds the complete history of life as it began on earth.

Man and his quest to bring about his own beliefs in how life began has really failed and he is to proud to admit it. For example: science still believes man came from monkey, but they fail to see that monkeys still exist, they introduce the idea of evolution as being the real factor that brought about life on earth. But through applying the Bible we can determine that life was not by chance, it was designed by a very intelligent being. By examining the book of Genesis we can see the evidence of real creation.

Genesis 1:1.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2. And the earth was waste and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep: and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

The term beginning is used for us as in the beginning of life as we know it. Now the beginning of life on this earth we should note, begins as a formless waist, and then light is brought into existence, science should take note of this as well as those who may believe the Bible to have been a story man wrote, because even science knows that light is necessary for life. We can also read that water was present at this time, another element needed to support life. Next we find that land appeared and the earth put forth grass, herbs yielding seed, and fruit-trees bearing fruit after their kind, wherein is the seed thereof, upon the earth: Now up to this point no animals or human existed.
Lets think on this for a moment, the Bible shows that first light appeared with the presents of water then land, next plant life? this was the beginning process in order to prepare the earth for the next form of life that would need oxygen to live. We can see that the Bible account is in order, light and water was needed to bring about plant life. These plants were able to live in the conditions at that time when so many gases were being given off, from the yet early stages of the earth`s cooling process in which it would have been impossible for oxygen breathing life to exist. The plants thrived on these gases and in turn produced oxygen. It is also interesting to read that God commanded that for every living thing brought into existence would continue as he created them, plants would continue to produce seed after their kind. Animals as well as man would produce also only after their kind. This is still true today. We don`t see whales giving birth to kittens, even so after we eat an apple and plant the seeds to have it become a plum tree. Everything is just as it was created from the start.

So why would this account be important? It gives us an added assurance that the Bible is truly from the creator. Moses is the one who wrote Genesis inspired from God, how do we know this is true? Well, lets ponder this for a moment, how could Moses have put the creation outlined in Genesis in perfect order, how did Moses know that grass, and herbs yielding seed, and fruit-trees bearing fruit after their kind, wherein is the seed thereof, upon the earth: would continue this way for all the generations that would read Genesis? In the book of Genesis Moses also writes this: Genesis 1:28 ...........and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. What is being told to us here? That God commanded that man would have dominance over all other living things. This is still the way it is today, man is in control over all of these is he not? fish don`t catch us and eat us, dogs and cats don`t have us as their pets, just as cows don`t slaughter us for them to eat. But it still continues as God commanded it to be, how could have Moses known these would remain as he wrote them.
He didn`t, he was not relying on his own understanding, nor did he rely on his own reasoning, but the Bible account given in Genesis was truly given to him from God. Again this is important because it only helps to establish that the Bible is from our creator.

After careful review of the account in Genesis, does the Bible also give us any real idea of the time period covered during this six days of creation? Yes, the Bible does. Some believe that the time period was a six day period of 144 hours(6 days x 24hours) . But the Bible gives evidence this time period was thousands of years. At Genesis 2:16........ God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17. but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shall not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

God told Adam that in the day that he ate of the tree of good and bad Adam would die. Did Adam die the same day he went and ate of this tree? No, So did God lie? No. At Genesis 5:5 . And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died. Adam lived almost a thousand years, this time period that Adam lived was 70 years short of a day to God.

Compare Psalms 90:4 For a thousand years in thy sight Are but as yesterday when it is past, And as a watch in the night.
2 Peter 3:8. But forget not this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

In light of this lets imagine that we where able to be present during the days of the creation, and consider the following:

Day one:
The earth was created and is a waste and a void in which there is darkness over the entire surface of the planet. Water was present at this point covering the entire surface, also there was no atmosphere suitable for life. Then there came to be light. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there came to be evening and morning a first day(Genesis 1:3,5 )

As far as light being called day and darkness being called night would this be a view point from outer space or would this apply to an earthly view as pictured from earth? because it reads that there came to be a dividing between the light and the darkness this would signify the earths rotation causing day and night on the surface of earth. Now at this point the Bible reads" And there came to be evening and there came to be morning the first day." How could this apply to an evening and morning as in a 24 hour period viewed in an earthly sense? For at any given time as in time on earth, one part of the earth is going into night time and the other side of the earth is going into day. At one point on the surface of the earth it was already proceeding into its next day. And evening existed at another place on earth, just as it would have been the middle of the day at some place on earth. So these days of creation are not as in days on earth, but rather these are days from the stand point of God, these are thousand year periods.

Day two:

So in understanding each day along with the events on each of these days, these time periods would make the Genesis account more fitting in that on the first day the earth was created and was formless and a waste, and gradually light came to be on the surface of the earth, the water covered deep.

On the second day we see an expanse come to be between the waters and a dividing occur between the waters and the waters, And God proceeded to make an expanse between the division of these waters. This was the second day. The second day as from the standpoint of God- a thousand years. We should keep in mind that earth was continually experiencing day and night that began on the first day of the creation. So again at any given location at this point, some part of earth was already into a morning condition, just as there would have existed at some place on earth it was experiencing night time.

On the third day we read that the waters gathered together and dry land appeared the dry land would be necessary for what was to come next plant life which would be essential for oxygen breathing animals as well as man, at this point the atmosphere was still unfit for oxygen breathing life. And God created grass, herbs yielding seed, and fruit-trees bearing fruit after their kind, wherein is the seed thereof, upon the earth. Now this is important to note that they where created to reproduce after their kind. Would it then be understandable that the surface of the earth was caused to show plant life over the entire area of the earth in what we believe to have been a 24 hour period, or was this gradual, over a period of a many years? While during this thousand years the plant life that took in all of the unsuitable gases giving off oxygen in return, preparing the atmosphere for the next forms of life. This was the third day of creation, a thousand year period.

The next event to take place is the existence of other lights in the heaven to separate the night from the day as viewed from earth. These we can understand are stars, as the Bible tells us these are used for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years. Would these stars be visible under an atmosphere of thick gases? could the plant life have had anything to do with these stars becoming visible? Yes, by the close of this third creative period, three broad categories of land plants had been created. Diffused light would have been quite strong by then, ample enough for the process of photosynthesis very vital to green plants. With an atmosphere initially rich in carbon dioxide, along with other gases unsuitable for oxygen breathing life may have caused an earth-wide hot climate. But the growth of lush vegetation during the third and fourth creative periods would have absorbed some of this heat-retaining blanket of carbon dioxide. The thick green vegetation that has been reproducing after their kind, has in turn now released oxygen-- a requirement essential to animal life.

Now at this point if there had been an earthly observer, they would have now been able to discern the sun, moon and stars, which would serve as signs and for seasons and for days and years. The moon would indicate the passing of lunar months, the sun now more visible as a source and not as a diffused light, would indicate the passing of solar years as well as seasons, also the stars could now shine upon the earth because of the now great clarity in the sky.

The fifth and sixth days would bring about oxygen dependent life including man.

All the knowledge of the wise men of Egypt combined could not have furnished Moses, the writer of Genesis, any clue to the process of the creation, so it would then be only logical for us to hold in truth that he received this account of the birth of life from someone who was there at the time of their beginning
Yes the book of Genesis is in tact and perfect order only giving more strength in the authenticity of the Bible and God.
