It is not clear to me that god does not need humans. My rather thin piece of evidence is the promise of Mother Mary that she will convert Russia if enough people say the Rosary enough times every day.

We can suppose that she just offering a reward for something that god could do on a whim.

On the other hand, it is possible that this kind of mantraing feeds spiritual energy into the godhead, and that the energy was needed to convert Russia.

A third possibility is that such mantraing gives permission for god to interfere in human life on the supposition that god has non-interference rules to begin with. That would be consistent with the evil we see in human behavior.

With any of these explanations, the importance of humans is established. And I am all for increasing my self-importance, and yours.
