Hi Yanniru, again! Thanks for starting this thread here, I were looking at Hinduism, just recently. The following is from Isa Upanishad http://www.yoga-age.com/upanishads/isha.html
"That One, though motionless, is swifter than the mind. The senses can never overtake It, for It ever goes before. Though immovable, It travels faster than those who run. By It the all–pervading air sustains all living beings."
This is not a very bad description of interconnectedness, a changing one. The main idea is that something which is motionless, moves faster than anything. To explain it, there is something called Internet, which somewhat implements interconnectedness. For example a web site is written on a hard disk of a computer, and goes nowhere from that computer, but still it will reach everyone who wants to read it. So the movement happens by establishing new connections, not by going through a continuous space, and such movement is faster.
I really don't think it's right to use Cellular Automaton as any model of universe or consciousness, we need interconnectedness. No one has succeeded to train a Cellular Automaton. Also the structures in Cellular Automaton shall die hundrieds of times faster than in Absolutely Dynamic System, which has interconnectedness, and *this* is not only a conjecture, you can run both Absolutely Dynamic System and Cellular Automata, and see that it is true. The code, test resylts etc are now in SourceForge ADS-AC project at http://adsproject.sourceforge.net/ads-ac The things moved a bit ahead.
BTW, you may also look at EU (European Union) FET project, Artificial Consciousness http://fp6.cordis.lu/index.cfm?fuseaction=ISTFET.ProposalDetail&id_event=49 Notice that the first three with type contributing, including me, go to very same direction. Like, Nils Goerke considers that AC systems must "grow up", like my system grows up from a few links connected together. And the paper by Andrei Kirilyuk shows that interconnectedness always appears in the presence of many bodies (which means many bodies may be all we need for quantum computer), and relates that to Artificial Consciousness. Don't know how important this tendency is, but it still shows certain importance of interconnectedness, and interconnected systems with changing structure, for Artificial Consciousness. |
