Religion historically hates new scientific discovery, and when the organization can no longer suppress whatever it is that might threaten it doctrines, they adapt thier theology to encompass the new reality. This in no way is similar to the scientific method.
This has been going on alot longer than 2000 years, and is not stripping away any powers but exposing the non-existance of such powers.
"Raped" is a special way of describing the relationship between the two.
I just cannot remember the last time a scientist killed a religious person over thier beliefs, although history is chock full of scientists being disposed of for the sake of religion.
I wonder what benefit there would be to a new world myth system whose very definition excludes study or reasoning?
There was a very good reason the founders of our country insisted upon seperation of church and state, they are similar in many ways to this.
No thanks,

I am interested in knowing your belief system about life. I do not insist on calling your system a "religion." I just say any belief system occupies the same niche as religion and behaves in a similar way.
You and I have many sympathies and beliefs which are similar, probably. As Communist China teaches that "religion is poison," maybe you also have much in common with them. In some ways that is commendable; yet every system has foibles.
Perhaps you can show where I am mistaken. I will try here show a place where you your statement might be amended to reflect more precisely what is actually occurring.
Religion is a phenomenon, like government, that is inevitable. Materialism is religion. Religion is often "vagueness" about what is not thoroughly known. It is a background hum. You can personally almost leave it behind. If the masses have not left it behind, then one is wise to be aware of its current consequences.
What happens in an ant-religion environment such as People's Republic of China is that the education system and culture merely transmit an alternative religion. If they knew all there is to know, this would not be necessary. Since they do not know all there is to know, they have dogmas...just as any religion does.
In any system, whether atheist or religious,
scientists are more fairly treated to the extent that the ethical systems around them are being operated by comprehending persons who are not being coerced too much.

Precise language was necessary to develop chemistry. Anecdote was the modality of the "Phlogiston" period in the history of chemistry. We are in that stage regarding religion.
