Religion historically hates new scientific discovery, and when the organization can no longer suppress whatever it is that might threaten it doctrines, they adapt thier theology to encompass the new reality. This in no way is similar to the scientific method.
This has been going on alot longer than 2000 years, and is not stripping away any powers but exposing the non-existance of such powers.
"Raped" is a special way of describing the relationship between the two.
I just cannot remember the last time a scientist killed a religious person over thier beliefs, although history is chock full of scientists being disposed of for the sake of religion.
I wonder what benefit there would be to a new world myth system whose very definition excludes study or reasoning?
There was a very good reason the founders of our country insisted upon seperation of church and state, they are similar in many ways to this.
