It is clearly know for today, that most of mental diseases are caused by changed chemical balance in
the brain.It has been proven that such an emotions
as sadiness and happiness are related with Serotonin and other chemical compounds found in brain.
Depression is usually succesfully treated by antidepresants.An example can be SSRI(Serotonin reabsorbtion inhibitor),which makes more efficient use of serotonin in the brain.
It is also known that most of narcotics increase the amount of Dopamin,a compound that is responsible for good feelings.
My opinion is that our emotions ,as well as consciousness, are chemical reactions,because there are a lot of proofs that our soul is a chemical-only being.
