Hi

Certainly there are penalties in this world for
adultery if one half of the marriage wants the other half to be held accountable in a breakup.
There are worldly goods riding on it, and
goodness knows humans spend most of their live obsessing about the things of this world.
But what of "Bearing False Witness" or "Coveting"
or "Not Keeping the Sabbath Holy?" Is Duane saying these are lesser sins than "Adultery"? If so, please cite your authority.

If one claims that adultery is the worst sin
then at least one knows what that person claims is the worst sin.
Most likely, we know what vice that person does not have, or thinks they will not be caught at. Others think it's just horrible that so many opinionated religionists are so ignorant and hypocritical (not you or me I hope, Duane!) To be "not perfect, but forgiven" is an example of the vagueness which lets almost any lack slide except those the fickle human crowd may sometimes point the finger at to draw attention away from themselves.
Sacredness, reverence and judgment are not to be disturbed lightly by our shallow understanding of God's Universe and What is Beyond...agree?
Mike
