Insects And Pollination

For example, if God created plant life ex nihilo on the third "day", how did they manage to survive before the creation of the insects necessary to pollinate them?

Early plants did not require insects.

I have read many times that during the age of the dinosaurs and earlier, flowering plants did not exist (or at least the fossil record does not show them). Ferns and trees apparently are recorded in the fossil record and these do not require pollination from insects, birds, etc.

Your point remains interesting though.
