As a fellow Christian who is also a skeptic and an absolute lover of knowledge and truth I would like to affirm and confirm Duane's statement.

The Bible DOES NOT specifically date earth or the universe.
In reading an earlier thread I noticed a discussion of this topic based on Genesis 1. The LITERAL translation of the Hebrew word which has often been mistranslated as "day" is more accurately "a defined amount of time." Unfortunately for the ancient Hebrews the only had about 8,000 non-proper nouns, a fact severely limiting for description of things and confounding for people translating the Bible.

To summarize, the word used, often taken as day, also means a defined amount of time, and it is the only thing in the Bible which even comes close to establishing an age for the earth or the universe.
