Hebrew scriptures were writtin by and for Hebrews.
They do not intend to be scientific but poetic in nature, explaining things from a temporal and artistic veiw, not a scientific rational. they are what they are and should be read in the light of who, why, what and when they were written.
Only modernday appolgists claim that they have scientific merit. Scholars of liturature take them for what they, great liturature written by Hebrew scholars and artists. the closest thing to a scientist was probably King Solomon, but he was also a poet like his father David. Enjoy the scriptures in this vein and glean from them what you will about how the Hebrews viewed God and His universe from a poetic stance.
