One thing lacking in the Bible that is found in most religions is the super-spectatular elitist preening. For examples: Krishna can make love to 16,000 maidens at once. Buddha ( though "not a God") ... has, unlike any of those round-eyed Westerners, achieved Nirvana. Zeus is a super mighty strong humanoid.
God in the Bible is represented as inscrutable and rather than simply superior to human beings as many "gods" are, the Bible God is truly cosmic in his self-descriptions. He is, in fact, quite annoyingly remote, so the Bible tries to bridge the gap with a nice close-up
avatar, J.C.
One might say the Bible's most eloquent poetic visions are disturbing and not always pleasing, yet are not such self-indulgent vanity publications like the books of many religions are.
