Human stupidity! At least according to Einstein.

To get rid of infinity is easier said than done. Before we can do that we must also find a way to get rid of zero. How exactly would we do that? It may not be obvious to some, but infinity and zero go hand in hand in many situations. You can't get rid of one and still keep the other.

I believe Paul is making too much ado about nothing. There are no real physical problems which can't be solved because of infinities. The only reason physicists get infinity from some of their calculations is when they make mistakes in reasoning. All those "singularities" in modern physics betray some invalid assumption hidden too deep to be clearly seen for what it is.

If you disagree with that, try to come up with a real problem in which you may possibly get infinity as a result. You just can't, unless you make some stupid assumption. Why should we believe physics is different?
