Generally, however when people use "humanism" to mean something, it is also understood to mean a dismissal of God and religion. . .and this Jesus certainly did not believe. He observed Sabboth (religion) and prayed to God continually.

Jesus wasn't a secular humanist.

If "humanist" simply means interested in the benefit and well-being of humans, of course Jesus was a humanist. What religion or religious leader is not "humanistic," by your definition. Well, my mistake, I thought you were trying to make a point.

There are many religions and denominations that are non-humanist in certain instances and occasions. The Roman Catholic Church during the Inquisition was non-humanist. The belief in I Sam.15 that God ordered the killings of families and their animals is certainly a non-humanist view of God. Janism might be considered as non-humanist. Certain beliefs involving the caste system is non-humanist. I would even say some certain notions of hell are non-humanist if it is viewed as a punishment versus an unstoppable consequence of one's own choicing, etc.

but I do not think they are honest to the teachings of the bible (Jewish and Christian).

Well, that's my point. Many, if not most, Christian denominations do not limit themselves to the fundamentalist interpretation of the scriptures, this is even somewhat true for the New Testament writings to some degree.
