If you just look around you will see that god's creation is very diverse. Even humanity is very diverse. My conclusion is that everything is diverse by design.

On this basis, the causal factor in explaining how organisms adapt to changes in the environment is that the gene pool of any species is so broad or diverse that no matter how the environment changes, usually, there is already some portion of the gene pool that is adapted for the change. That is also how species change.

Now not all species have such a broad gene pool. Those species on the endangered list for example have such a narrow gene pool that a single desease can wipe them all out. But for most species with large numbers of members, there is sufficient diversity to adapt to such changes in the environment.

So the question then is, how do species get such large and diverse gene pools. My answer is in the title. But perhaps a clever mayhematical geneticist could explain the diversity by even more remote causal factors. But could he or she explain why we have so many religions in this world??

Richard
