Professor Stephen Hawking writes about a concept he calls a "Taub nut" in anti-de-Sitter space; he talks about "nut charge".

He talks of a 2-D nut called a "bolt".

He talks about Misner strings regarding entropy.

Sounds like:

We talk of "the nuts and bolts of an argument"; "nutting something out"; "no strings attached".
