How can counting be other than partial differentiation?
If you say 1 + 1 = 2; you are mixing the two items in the label: a group called "two".
But "two" groups A and B together in a common ground; effectively a base for any further mixing of A and B?
If you say 1 + 1 + 1 = 3; you are mixing the ones in "three" and could be mixing the "twos" in three and could be mixing the "ones" in the twos.
Physics appears to address this potential ambiguity in mathematics by taking number-described lab results and looking at every way base can form number and number can collapse into base.
It looks like the parable of the workers in the vineyard? The worker who started early in the day agreed to one denari as a wage; worked all day; also the worker who started for the last hour agreed to a wage of one denari.
That looks rough but maybe there is a way of seeing that it is saying something.
What is "devolving"? Maybe we are starting to see through the "matrix" of assumed equal-size and assumed equal-spaced numbers that enslave humans via "machines" called "equations"?
When you look at it "number" disintegrates, it seems to be a kind of sticker that gets stuck to things which then get stuck together without taking everything into consideration?
"turning the other cheek" does sound like "not counting"...
