Fundamentalism Is Still A Threat

I was struck by this passage in your post:

"Fundamentalism is just plain wrong. It is not part of the history of the Christian church, and even today, fundamentalist churches are still a minority of the whole Christian church. They try to promote the image that they are the true Christians, but it is just hogwash. Don't believe it. "

Now if we look at Israel today we see that the fundamentalists, the Orthodox Jews, have hijacked the religion of Israel. Yet the part of Judaism that traces back to the time of Jesus is Reform Judaism, which is not even a recognized faith in Israel today. The orthodox and the conservatives are offshoots from the mainstream Reform Judaism.

This is analogous to Christian fundamentalism which you correctly characterize as an off shot of Protestantism which is itself an off shoot of Catholicism. In Israel it is as if the fundamentalists outlawed the Catholic Church is this country.

And of course, the problem of Islam is its fundamentalism.

So the fundamentalists are a real threat to all religions, not just Christianity. And they threaten government, as in Israel, and science, as in Kansas.
