A while back Richard and I had a discussion about this same subject.

Richard didn’t seem to take to my ideas well because it disagreed with the Jewish traditional interpretations of the Bible text.

It seemed to me the Earth existed an undisclosed amount of time Gen 1:1 and Gen 1:2
Before the first day.
The Earth's surface was then recreated in six days about 6000 years ago. Gen 1:3 +

I am curious about others opinions.
