Just a quick comment.

In the Gospel both jews and gentiles are healed by Jesus because of their great faith. In fact, that was the only way that gentiles were healed.

I just searched the entire Revised Stabdard Version of the bible for the word belief. Here are the only two scriptures using that word:

[11] He armed each of them not so much with confidence in shields and spears as with the inspiration of brave words, and he cheered them all by relating a dream, a sort of vision, which was worthy of belief.
[13] But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.

Here I think the word 'belief' could as easily be the word faith. So my conclusion is that knowing something.

Let's try trust: 102 hits, all but 3 in the old testament

[43] He trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he desires him; for he said, `I am the Son of God.'"
[13] And again, "I will put my trust in him."
And again, "Here am I, and the children God has given me."
[24] but Jesus did not trust himself to them,

Now faith and you get 519 hits, and 305 from the Gospel.

My conclusion is that faith is much more important in the Gospel than belief or trust
