After physics has produced a TOE, get ready to see the whole foot once other TOEs are produced having equal merit to the evidence. How many TOEs will be published will probably be tracked carefully for a while, and then finally humanity will lose interest in physics (afterall, the chip in your head in the year 2525 won't require any further analysis on our part). After 2525 (besides colonizing the nearest stellar civilizations [- inside joke]), we will be more focused on finding a grand TOE that explains why reality is the way it is and no other way. For example, complexity theory or category theory (mathematics) might be such a grand TOE. At about that time, if God's a comin' he ought to be comin' by then.
