I think it is important to note that Stafford's claim to bridge GR and QM is erronious. He claims to derive a metric of GR [Schwarzschild] but it is wrong. He 'brushes this fact off' by making light of his extra term. The main conflict between GR and QM is the spacetime that underlies the physics. QM is background dependent [coordinate dependent] while GR is a background free fully relational theory. Stafford doesn't even discuss the issue of how to quantize a backgound free fully relational theory. This is what the LQG folks have done. Unfortunately they don't know how to make it a quantum theory of particle interactions [so far]. There is good reason to ignore Stafford's claims [they are bogus] and its not because scientists are a bunch of narrowminded fuddyduddys as Stafford would have you believe.
