Why do you write,"Forget calculus" ? It can be very helpful in some applications. It is probably, as you say, a big Sigma.


My log building seems not to be very closely related to the forum topic of
God and Science. If I tell you, will you invite me and a friend to see your log building?
Here's what you get for free: Our log building project is very minor compared to yours. I obtained about 700 linear feet of white spruce logs and poles by removing some trees
(with permission) from a local house lot.
The last bunch had thicker side branches so I
left a foot or so of side branches every two feet or so to balance other elements upon during the future erection phase -- just a primitive innovation or whim.
But this assembly will not occur until some of the logs are cured more, and we have to lay a bed of gravel first. The water table here is barely under the surface for six months each year, so we will attempt to design and assemble
a structure which holds together by tensegrity.
