There is an interesting short debate on SETI at http://www.velocitypress.com/page/page/659928.htm.

Oddly, the anti-SETI line is rational (I wrote it), while the pro-SETI argument--by the president of the SETI League--is quite emotional. But the final word is most interesting, in which a British critic calls the SETI quest a religion wrapped in scientific vestments.
