The geometry of that assertion is breath-taking.
Y purports to say what does not matter to God ( what you believe). This would seem okay...any of us may be able to guess what God thinks.
But it seems funny to say that how one acts on one's beliefs does matter to God when it does not matter what you believe. Why not skip beliefs altogother and say it matters to God only how you behave, and Y could also proceed to tell us how God thinks we should behave. We should believe Y's version according to that model whether or not we believe in the literal truth of the "bible" or not.
Seems funny.
