Curious On The Cow/dolphin Relation

I have long suspected that man/chimps grew along side one another (from an evolutionary perspective) vs. one evolving from another. Which would make sense. So, we do have one tie way back on the evolutionary path. Hmmm, where else have people concurred with this belief. Can you cite some examples?
